Unfortunately the event did not took place due to issues between the harbour management and mayors office form Giurgiu in that period. Thing look a lot better now, and the team is ready to reevaluate the project and reactivate it. The artista and final list is the same, mabe we will ad some more, but for now we hope you can forgive us for not keeping you up to date on what happened to the event.
We hope in the summer everything will be readdy.

Get involved more?
You can get involved more in this project by helping us connect with cultural associations from your region, to promote the event and make it "mobile", to promote the culture of the Danube, and to help people learn more about the wonders of the most beautiful river in Europe and it's ecosistems.
Soon we will start the media campaign for the project, if you have ideas you want to share (simbols,prints,stencils,spots) don't hesitate !

HOW THE IDEA WAS BORN ?
On the usual "scanning" for great sights on Google Earth and Panoramio, I realized that through the Danube river, "far away" becomes very close and familiar, all the cities along the river have so much in common beside the water front (as: bridges ,citadels ,activities connected to water , and most of all people with great passion for "catching" beautiful landscapes with their camera).
Working on a landscape architecture project in Giurgiu - Romania, I have the chance to know all the needs of this city, for it to become healthy. One of my first concerns and priorities is promoting the culture of the Danube, through cultural events, in the eyes of the citizens.
These two facts got me to the idea of connecting all the cities and the landscapes along the Danube, and showing to the people from Giurgiu the great opportunities that their city has, the great sights from other Danubian cities from which we can learn to build ourselves. This is the main idea at the base of the project.
Talking to artists around Europe and big Danube Associations (like International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River) and having their support, I realized the need for an exhibition of photography with international magnitude, that promotes the culture of the Danube and it's wonderful resources through images from different cultures! One culture that unites all the cultures - THE DANUBE CULTURE.
LANDSCAPES OF THE DANUBE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION - ROMANIA 2008
